HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 77

Requesting the Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of
Highways to rename that certain bridge which crosses Elk
River, at Elkview, Kanawha County, on State Route 114 and
commonly known as the Elk River Bridge, the "Elk River
Veterans Bridge."

Whereas, Thousands of men and women from the Elk River Valley,
which wends through the heart of this great State, have honorably
served the State and the nation in the armed forces of this
country, many of whom have given that last full measure of
devotion; and

Whereas, It is appropriate that these thousands of West
Virginia heroes, for their outstanding service, have a monument in
the heart of this State in remembrance of their selfless
contributions; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of
Highways officially rename the Elk River Bridge on State Route 114,
crossing the Elk River at Elkview, Kanawha County, the "Elk River
Veterans Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner is requested to have
made and placed, at either end of the bridge, signs identifying the
bridge as the "Elk River Veterans Bridge."
